Hélène Carbonneau began her academic career after working for over 20 years in the health sector. With a PhD in gerontology, she is a full-time professor in the department of recreation, culture and tourism studies at the Université du Québec à Trois-Rivières since 2007. Her research focuses on recreation, health and positive development. Her interests in the recreation field revolve around the question of the inclusive experience of recreational activities and the positive development of individuals. She is interested in the positive aspects of the caregiver's role and advocates for the reinforcement of enjoyable moments in their daily lives with their loved one through adapted activities of fun. She is also interested in supporting the social participation of older adults as well as supporting the integration of people with disabilities.
