Our mission
The Division of Geriatric Medicine is working in collaboration with the McGill Centre for Studies in Aging, the Steinberg Centre for Simulation and Interactive Learning, the Vice Dean of Education of the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, and Caregiver Crosswalk Inc. to build a comprehensive program to address the needs of persons living with dementia and the caregivers and professionals who support them. The McGill Dementia Education Program brings together cutting-edge teaching and learning techniques, including simulation and a distance blended learning approach to reach remote areas, and leverages McGill’s wide-ranging research and clinical expertise and community partnerships to work towards building dementia-inclusive communities for the thousands of Quebecers who live with dementia and their caregivers. McGill Cares - Dementia Education Program weekly webcasts
To stay connected and provide as much support as possible during these challenging times, we launched a weekly webcast series called McGill Cares in May 2020. During candid, 30-minute interviews with leading experts, Claire Webster explores topics related to caring for a loved one with dementia and other neurocognitive and mental health conditions that impact individuals and have a ripple effect on informal caregivers.
McGill Cares is broadcast live on Wednesdays at 12 p.m. EST. All episodes are recorded and posted on our website where they can be viewed any time.

Dementia Activity Booklet
Four graduate students at the McGill School of Physical and Occupational Therapy developed an activity booklet for caregivers and their loved ones who are living with dementia. This engaging virtual toolkit offers over 40 recreational activities, in six different categories, with instructions on how to adapt the activities to the needs of the individual. This booklet is available in French and English.
